Does having a private IP affect your website’s ranking in search results?
Por Admin
Have you ever wondered about the possibility of the IP address affecting your site’s ranking in search results? Is IP considered a ranking factor in Google's algorithm?
Or does it depend on the domain only?
In today's article, we discuss together the impact of IP on your site's ranking in search results. I wish you enjoyment and benefit. First, let me start with a quick introduction to the concept of both the domain and the IP. For those familiar with this topic, you can ignore this introduction and move directly to the next paragraph. Quite simply, dear reader, when you type the name of a website in your browser, a request is sent to special servers called DNS servers whose primary task is to search for the IP address of the website that you wrote. Once this IP is found, your request will be redirected to the server that hosts the requested website. Here we will distinguish between two cases: The first case (shared IP address): The most common case is that it is the cheapest. In this case, the same IP address is shared between several sites located on the same hosting company. Once the user requests any of these sites, his request is transferred to the same server (the hosting company’s server), since this site has the same IP address. As soon as the request reaches the hosting company’s server, it identifies the requested site through its name and sends the requested site to the user. The second case (private IP address): In this case, your site has its own IP address and is not shared with anyone. Therefore, the user can write the IP address of your site in the browser instead of the site name, and he will reach your site without having to write its name. The address is specific to your site and only to your site. Of course, obtaining your own IP address will require paying an additional financial fee, so nothing is free. For example, SEO in Arabic has its own IP and you can access the site only by writing our IP address.
The main question in today’s article, after this technical introduction: Does having a private IP affect the ranking in search results? Well, as for the direct effect, there is no, as there is not yet any proof that the IP address is one of the ranking factors in the Google algorithm, but there is another matter that I must mention, which is the indirect effect. We all know that the speed of loading the site on the user’s browser is a factor in the ranking adopted by many search engines, most notably Google. The indirect effect of IP is that it improves the speed of loading the site on the user’s browser. If you compare two sites that are completely identical and at all points, one of them has a private IP and the other has a shared IP, it will be Preference in download speed for a site with a private IP. Of course, there are other benefits to using a private IP address that I will not mention here, but they are matters related to site security and other points that fall outside the scope of SEO. In general, if the competition is intense between you and your peer sites and you are looking for some points that give you an advantage, you can resort to using a private IP for your site. This will increase the loading speed of your site and give you some points added by Google and its sister search engines.
