Google warns against building your business based on Google Discover visits
By Admin
Google's Gary Illyes commented on how some publishers are getting unfair traffic from Google Discover, the feature in which Google displays articles from publishers on the Google.com homepage. “I hope people realize that this could disappear overnight and that they are not building their entire business model around it,” he said on Twitter.
Obviously what he's saying is that Google is constantly building new things and shutting down old things. If you built your business around a new feature from Google and the company decides to get rid of that feature, you'll be in trouble. You need to make sure that you diversify your traffic and your business so that it is not dependent on one source of traffic.
Google Discover isn't a consistent form of traffic for most publishers, so this is a good thing at least for publishers who already know this. But if some are relying on it to drive a lot of traffic to their site, they should really look to diversify it. This is an implicit warning from Google to publishers who are currently investing time and effort to reach audiences through this feature.
On the other hand, it is important to know that Google's feature algorithms change, and therefore if you previously received huge traffic from them, the algorithm may change and display other articles from different sites, and here you will feel a great loss. #GoogleDiscover #GoogleNews #Google
