Google had previously announced that it would publish the update and begin implementing it in May. This announcement came in March of 2016, that is, about three months before the launch of this update. It called on webmasters to test the compatibility of their sites with smartphones. .

On its official blog, Google says that if your site is compatible with a smartphone, it will not be affected by this update.
