Ladybird is taking a rare step in the development world: building an open-source browser entirely from the ground up, without borrowing any code from existing browsers. The project is led by GitHub co-founder Chris Wanstrath, and its planned features include ad blocking and third-party cookie prevention. An alpha release is expected in 2026 for Linux and macOS.
