WhatsApp will stop working on these devices during 2020

There's bad news for people who use a wide range of mobile phones and older operating systems: WhatsApp may not work on them since early 2020. The hugely popular chat app warned users with older phones that they would need to upgrade their phones to continue using the service, and now we know the implementation date of the decision and the affected phones. This decision is based on the trend not to use the service on any old operating systems such as iOS 7 and Android devices with versions 2.3.7 installed, and this decision will come into effect as of February 1, 2020.

If you love WhatsApp and have any of the phones mentioned or haven't updated your operating system in a few years, you'll need to get an upgrade to something a little newer. The changes may mostly affect older people who may not upgrade to the latest models on a regular basis, and if you have someone in your family who uses an older phone with an instant messaging app on it you may want to let them know about the changes. WhatsApp upgrades since mid-2017 have previously seen the service stop working on a range of phones including the Nokia Symbian S60s, BlackBerry OS, BlackBerry 10 and Nokia S40s.
