Manchester City, the current English Premier League champion, has begun construction of the first football stadium in the virtual world Metaverse, with the help of virtual reality (VR) specialists from Sony and by concluding a three-year agreement to complete the project. According to a report issued by (inews.co.uk). The project is still in its early stages, and the company's specialists are working on drawing a digital map of Manchester City's Etihad Stadium.

It has already been visited by specialists and a virtual reality version of it has been developed. Al-Ittihad Club Stadium will be transformed into the main facade of Man City in the world of virtual reality. Thanks to image analysis and the use of structure tracking technology developed by Hawkeye, a subsidiary of the technology and entertainment giant Behemoth. Through this step, City hopes to enable fans who cannot travel to Manchester to watch live matches from their homes.

According to Noria Tari, Head of Marketing and Public Interaction at City Football Group, “In Metaverse, you can recreate a game, watch it live, and move as if you were on the field and from different angles. Where there are no boundaries, it is an integrated virtual world.” It can be said that if football succeeds in achieving this, there will certainly be a revolution in the way television broadcasting rights are distributed.
