Elon Musk says Spacex will accept Dogecoin as payment for goods soon — and subscriptions could follow

Spacex and Tesla CEO Elon Musk says Dogecoin will soon be accepted at Spacex for purchasing goods, in the same way Tesla accepts DOGE payments. Furthermore, Starlink subscriptions could also be paid using Dogecoin “one day.” Spacex will soon accept Dogecoin as payment for goods Dogecoin got a little boost on Friday when Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced via Twitter that Spacex will soon accept the meme cryptocurrency as payment for goods.
“Tesla merchandise can be purchased from DOGE, and soon Spacex products too,” the Spacex chief tweeted. Additionally, Musk said Spacex's Starlink subscriptions may "one day" be paid for with dogecoin. Starlink provides high-speed, low-latency broadband internet in remote and rural locations around the world, it says on its website. After Musk tweeted about Spacex accepting Dogecoin, the price of the meme cryptocurrency rose.
At the time of his tweet, DOGE was trading at $0.078399 per coin. It quickly rose more than 8% to $0.084927. However, the meme coin quickly lost most of its gains and is currently trading at $0.081469.
Tesla began accepting Dogecoin payments in January for some goods, and the electric car company does not currently accept any other cryptocurrencies. The company used to accept Bitcoin for products but stopped due to environmental concerns. Musk said in June last year that Tesla would resume accepting BTC when miners could confirm 50% use of clean energy.
However, he still had to reconsider the matter. Musk has long been a supporter of Dogecoin. He is known in the crypto community as the Dogefather.
The Tesla CEO previously revealed that he owns Bitcoin, Ether, and Dogecoin. However, Spacex only owns Bitcoin. In April, Tesla's balance sheet showed $1.26 billion in digital assets.
The SpaceX chief said in May that dogecoin has potential as a currency while bitcoin is more suitable as a store of value. The CEO of Tesla and Spacex is currently trying to buy Twitter. However, the deal is currently on hold pending details that support the account that spam and fake accounts account for less than 5% of the social media platform's users.
